写在千禧年 WTO 澳门回归的缤纷色彩中

    周末例会不少记者焦躁不安：报纸在搞千禧庆典活动，拍卖千禧年广告版面；电视也开始策划“标王”；我们杂志什么都做不了。

    急什么？像我们的副总编高云说的：若把报纸比西药，杂志便是中药。西药用温水即可吞服且见效快，而中药需要煎熬，苦涩难咽，有周期有疗程方能见效，但回味有暗香。至于“煎熬”两字，回家在炉台边药罐前细细品味，定是别有一番滋味。

    不是吗？你做你的杂志，当然是在社会主义的大环境下；在加入WTO后，中国依然是社会主义；是有特色的社会主义。在这样的大环境下，别人想到了优秀的题材和项目，你也可以想，想到了可以做得更优秀也就变成特色了。没有特色，跟在别人屁股后面喊叫什么？炙手可热的东西抓住之时是商机，抓住以后是什么？就像当初投入创办《中外酒店》一样，多少人说酒店业低迷不景气，那么漂亮的杂志不出两期就会垮掉；不如做旅游杂志，做旅游杂志都赚钱。我说我就是要做别人不愿做也不好做的事。再说了，旅游和酒店本身也是千丝万缕的瓜葛，分不开。

    一方土地一方神，一方山水一方人。当90%的人都在行动，你就别再花90%的精力，抢那10%的商机和利润。除非你和他的产品一样，或者是12亿人口都需要的产品，那么东南西北都无所谓了。我是说即使加入WTO，即使人人都在奔向二十一世纪，也只是缩短了大距离，差距依然存在。况且中国人想中国人有12亿人口，国际上任何一个国家的商人和经济学家都知道也都在想中国的12亿人口的消费原则和商业游戏。中国的土地上膨胀着商机，也膨胀着危机。

    实实在在按自己设定的方向和目标往前走，就是新世纪。

    既然杂志是中药，就不要顾及西药功效如何快。否则连中药的慢功效都会游离而去。能做到中西结合，既见效快又可去病根，且能将回旋的底蕴，调理自己精神焕发，那自然是大师级的炒作。我们望尘莫及。我们只能老老实实一步一个脚印往前走 前面始终有一盏航标灯，永远都是触手可及，却永远只是在前方注视着你 创造无止境，追求无止境，一门学科深入钻研，钻透了你就是大师。

    大师都是稳稳地坐在太师椅上望着众爱徒的举动。他不会慌张不会急躁。我们还没有到大师的级别，所以会急躁会不平。回头看看自己走过的路，总结一下成败得失和既定方针偏离了几许几丈？终极目标在哪里？航标灯在哪里？高层决策者的心态如何？中层管理走了几位？员工的工作积极性有改善吗？给他们考虑了福利待遇没有？有灵活的奖励机制吗？你为什么要做老板？你为什么打工？

    我是一个诗人的时候我创作出好诗歌；我是一个杂志社总编或社长的时候，我努力创造一本有特色的定位准确的好杂志。带领好自己的人马服务于一个专业市场，并在这个专业市场里树起一块品牌，这是我的追求，也是我的职责。

    之所以我选择深圳，并且把基地设在深圳，是深圳充满了朝气，深圳的年轻、美丽和深圳的节奏速度常常令我觉得是置身在国际市场的竞争氛围之中。

    竞争至上。否则，你只有面对WTO而兴叹。下一个世纪，所有的企业都将以竞争意识为先导，技术竞争、服务竞争，最终是人才竞争。免不了的竞争机制。所以我们会不断引进先进的国际酒店管理经验，并和国际酒店管理专家、中国大专院校科研专家一起探讨研究，并试图将培训这门学科往专业化和产业化方向引导。

    杂志的面貌又专业又多元，像您的酒店，也像散文，形散而神不散，所以我们的杂志不是单纯只给总经理看，或只给客房经理看；况且五星总经理和一星总经理的口味也不一样。所以在提出专业又多元的问题请海涵。况且还有许多酒店的客人看这本杂志。只是期望这本杂志的工作人员和看这本杂志关心这本杂志的人一起将竞争意识贯穿始终，一起奋斗，一起创造，一起绘画；绘出特色，绘出美丽，绘出专业，于专业中呈现多元的面貌。

    绘一面五星红旗，插在澳门岛上，谨表全体亚太人迎接新世纪的一片诚意。

    真的，澳门离我们越来越近，澳门回归使中国人脸上多一份喜色；澳门是我们的兄弟，中国是全世界的兄弟；全世界人民脸上都呈一份喜色：辞旧迎新，年年平安，岁岁平安；世界平安，中国平安，澳门平安，《中外酒店》和《中外酒店》的读者平安。

On our regular meeting at weekend, our journalists puzzled, "our magazine does nothing while newspapers are preparing new millenium activities, and auctioning advertisement space of the New Year's day, TV stations are planing for bidding."

"Why be so impatient?" Said our vice chief editor Gao Yun, "Newspapers are like western medicine, magazines are like Chinese medicine. You can swallow western medicine with lukewarm water, ant it works fast. Chinese medicine needs to be decocted, it tastes bitter and works after cycling treatment courses, but it smells sweet. As for the word "Decoct", it must taste good for you beside the simmering pot at your home."

Is it so that your magazine develops in socialist society? After entering the WTO, China will maintain characteristic socialism. Under this condition, others have their good themes and items, you may have yours, and do better than others, then you can have your own Characteristics. Without your unique Characteristic, you have nothing. Choosing the proper items is your business opportunity, but what will you do afterwards? When we invested to establish International Hotel magazine, many people said to me, "Such high quality magazine won't continue to publish because the hotel industry is in depression. It's better for you to turn to publish tourism magazine which is profitable." I said, "I just want to do the things that others wouldn誸 or can't do, further, there are countless ties between tourism and hotel industry.

Different people have different business opportunities in different places. When 90% people are acting, you need not put your 90% energy in grabbing the 10% business opportunity and interests. Unless your products were necessities for everybody, you should carefully choose a proper place or market. Although China will enter the WTO and everybody is preparing for the new century, disparities will still exist. In fact, 1.2 billion Chinese, even businessmen and economists all over the world are considering and studying Chinese consumption principles and business rules. There are swelling both business opportunities and crises.

So, you should go forward to your direction and destination in the new century.

Since magazines are like medicine, you should not only pay attention to the fastness of western medicine, but also understand the slow efficacy of Chinese medicine. Combining the Chinese medicine and the western medicine would be both effective and fast, further, it would make you meditating and healthy. That is the methods of great masters, We can't catch up with them, but we can go forward step by step without termination, there is always a navigating lamp ahead watching us. Creation and pursuit are boundless. When you fully grasp a science, you will be a master.

A master always sits in a top place watching his followers practicing, he doesn't get irritable. We are not masters, so we easily get irritable, and protest injustice. Looking back on your careers, you should summarize and ask yourself: What are your successes and failures? What is your terminal goal? Where is the navigating lamp? What are your high-level managers thinking about? How many middle-level managers left? Is the staff's enthusiasm improved? Do you think about the staff's welfare? Do you establish flexible encouraging system? Why do you want to be a boss? Why do you work in others' company?

Being a poet, I worked hard to create fine poetry. Being a chief editor of a magazine, I'm trying hard to editing quality magazine with an accurate orientation and an unique style. It's my pursuit and responsibility to lead my staff to serve an industrial market and set up a good brand.

I chose Shenzhen as the base of my career, because she's young, beautiful and full of energy, Shenzhen tempo often makes me feel I seem in the competition of international market.

Competition is supreme, without it, you will have nothing to do when china enter the WTO. In the new century, all enterprises will take competition as their guide. Technological competition and service competition are determined by talent competition, so we should have our own competitive mechanism. We will constantly import advanced experiences of international hotel management, and study with international hotel management specialists and domestic college researchers to push the science to be specialized and industrialized.

The contents of our magazine are both professional and diversified, like both your hotel and prose. Our magazines are presented not only to hotels' managers but also to hotels' guests. The readers' tastes are different, I hereby invite readers to take part in the discussion of our magazines' specialization and diversification. We hope our readers and our staff strive together, create together to draw beautiful pictures of the future in the competition of the new century.

It is a good idea to draw a blueprint and a national flag to welcome Macao's return and the new millenium to express our sincerity.
